OUR Story

Our story is one of faith, vision, perseverance, and service.

In the heart of Chicago’s West Side, within the Austin community, New Evangelical Bible Church has long believed that ministry extends beyond the walls of the church. It means meeting people where they are, recognizing the needs of the community, and creating real opportunities for people to move forward.

Under the leadership of Reverend Pastor Willie J. Sams, that belief became a vision: to build a place where individuals and families could find not only spiritual encouragement, but also practical resources, employment opportunities, education, training, and support that could lead to lasting change.

The Austin community has faced many challenges over the years, including limited access to employment, economic investment, educational resources, and safe spaces for growth. Rather than simply acknowledge those challenges, Pastor Sams and New Evangelical Bible Church chose to respond with action.

That vision gave birth to NEBC Employment Resource Services (NEBC-ERS), an organization created to help individuals strengthen their skills, prepare for employment, pursue economic opportunity, and build a more secure future for themselves and their families.

In 2008, a major part of that vision became a reality with the completion of the facility located at 4628 West Washington Boulevard in Chicago. With more than four decades of experience in the construction industry, Pastor Sams served as general contractor and played a hands-on role in bringing the facility from vision to completion.

The building became more than brick and mortar. It became a symbol of possibility.

Today, the facility is home to NEBC Employment Resource Services and El Palais Bu-Sche’ Banquet Hall, while also providing spaces designed to support education, entrepreneurship, workforce development, community engagement, and economic empowerment.

Within the facility are a business incubator, technology center, classroom and training spaces, a banquet hall and ballroom, and a state-of-the-art professional kitchen. Each space was created with purpose—to help people learn, grow, connect, celebrate, and pursue new opportunities.

Over the years, the vision has continued to expand. What began as a response to the needs of one community has grown into a broader commitment to helping youth, adults, families, entrepreneurs, and organizations throughout Chicago access the tools and support needed to succeed.

At the center of our story is one simple belief: when people are given opportunity, resources, guidance, and support, lives can change.

That belief continues to guide our work today.

We remain committed to strengthening the Austin community, creating pathways to employment and advancement, investing in the next generation, and building spaces where people can discover their potential.
